Describe the atmosphere of the school.
The School is particular about all students showing respectable and good behaviour and discipline is an essential part of school life. We also maintain a friendly and loving atmosphere with teachers being parental in their approach to children outside class hours. The School has a generally pleasant climate and temperatures are also lower than the plains or the cities. Summers are warm but cool in the shade. Winters are generally quite cold and wet. The School has a beautiful environment with plenty of gardens and trees to provide a relaxing ambience for all the students.

Do you provide tuition and coaching?
All students are expected to attend all classes. Students who miss classes due to illness are required to meet with their respective teachers to review the subjects and days that they have missed classes. Tests and Exams are also conducted to check aptitude and learning ability of the students on a regular basis. Students have study time everyday and the hours are monitored by teachers, tutors or wardens. Students are also given special attention for subjects that they have difficulties in. They are assigned to special study groups and also given coaching and special tutoring sessions. Students are not charged for these sessions and special efforts of teachers.

Do you have separate hostels for both boys and girls?
The School strictly emphasises proper and decent behaviour between boys and girls. Any sort of bad behaviour by Samaritan Students is not tolerated either
on or off campus. Boys and girls are accommodated in their respective hostels which are secure and located at a distance from each other on different parts of the school campus.

What are the sleeping arrangements for students?
To ensure better discipline,
enhanced community life and proper
monitoring of all students, all students
are housed in dormitories where rooms
are shared. Students are divided
according to their age groups and
classes and are placed under the care of
their wardens. Students have their own
beds and are provided with facilities to
store their belongings. Students are
expected to maintain their living spaces
and will be taught and supervised to be
responsible.

What is the language for communication used in the hostels?
English is the mandatory language required to be spoken at all times inside the campus and outside, regardless of time. Students are repeatedly reminded to follow this and to develop their language skills in spoken English regardless of their ethnic background or nationality.

What do you do when children get sick?
A Health Clinic on the School Campus supervised by a qualified Nurse attends to all minor ailments of students. Consulting Doctors are on call when required from the local community. Serious illness or medical need is taken care of by major hospitals according to their specialities, they include the
Ikramullah Hospital at Vaniyambadi who
are collaborating with the Apollo
Hospitals in Chennai (Madras) and the Christian Medical College (CMC) Hospital at Vellore. Any serious illness or medical condition is reported to the parents immediately. Parents will have to bear all expenses incurred by the school for medical treatment and care.

What do the children do for rest and relaxation?
Students have several avenues
for rest and relaxation. We provide
clean and wholesome music and
entertainment such as movies and
educational programming during the
weekends and on holidays. Students also
make use of the library and develop
their reading habits. The various clubs
in the school including the bird
watching club, music club and sports and
games are available for students to
productively use their leisure time and
to relax.

Does the school provide uniforms and stationery?
The school provides all required books, texts and stationery for each student. The school provides uniforms for sports and games as well as regular school uniform. The school recommends parents to
not obtain their own uniforms for their children but permit the school to make provisions for them. Uniform accessories such as footwear and associated gear must be provided by the students. The school can make arrangements for these on payment of
extra charges.

What actions would you take against any child who is found breaking rules on Campus?
The school does not tolerate any kind of bad behaviour including bad language, indiscipline, insubordination, use of any prohibited or narcotic substances including but not restricted to alcohol and tobacco. Students found in violation of any of the school rules and regulations will be given severe warning and counselling. Repeated offences will entail strict disciplinary action including fines and penalties, suspension or expulsion from the school. Students will be given opportunities to reform and change with counselling and guidance. Failure to comply will be disadvantageous to the student. The school reserves the right to check belongings to any and all persons on campus to ensure a clean and narcotic free environment.

What are the long breaks in a year?
There are three long breaks for different purposes during the school year.
Educational Break – A week to 10 days where students may visit home but are encouraged to take part in the Educational Tour to places of Interest arranged and supervised by the school.
Winter Break – The last three weeks of the year from December to January to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. Students in Class X and Class XII are required to stay back and prepare for their final board exams. They are not permitted to go home.
Summer Vacation – This occurs between academic years and will usually be between 6 to 7 weeks from the 2nd week of April to the end of May. School for the next academic year opens in the
first week of June.

Would you charge extra
fees if any child stays back during vacation?
The School does not charge extra
fees for any student staying back during the Educational Break or the Winter Break. The School usually does not encourage students to stay back during their Summer Vacation. In special cases, however, the school may accommodate students on special requests from parents or guardians. The school will charge a fee for this period regardless of the duration once the school is officially closed. Any and all incidental expenses above the prescribed fee will also have to be borne by the parent/guardian.

From which classes
are open for admission?
Admissions are open for all classes from Kindergarten to Class VIII. Special requirements must be met for classes IX and XI. For direct admission to Class X and XII, a stringent evaluation and testing process will be carried out to see if the student meets the requirement and qualification to that class. Direct admission to Class X and Class XII does not mean that student will be permitted to attend Board Exams. Students will be monitored for a minimum of three months and up to
a maximum of 6 months. Eligibility for final exams is dependent on their performance in the tests and exams conducted by the school.

What is the system of payment of fees?
The school recommends that the fees be paid at one time, prior to admission of the student. Parents or guardians can apply for enrolling in the DP Scheme to the Finance Committee for deferred payment over several months. Those enrolled in the DP Scheme will also pay 3% of the total fee spread out among the deferred payments. Any payments will not be permitted to cross the December of that academic year. Defaulters will be fined and penalised. Students with defaulted fee payments will not be permitted to attend classes and in extreme cases will have their names struck from the rolls and be asked to return home. To be re-enrolled, the admission fee
must be paid again.

Do we deposit money prior to the admission?
Annual Fee is recommended to be paid by the parent in the acceptable form before the student joins the school. If the fee is not paid prior to admission, the student will not be permitted to join the school or attend classes. Exceptions include deferred payment schemes approved by the Finance Committee.

Do we pay admission fees again if a child is promoted to the next class?
The student pays the admission fee only once. Promotion to the next higher class does not entail an admission fee. Students who have procured a Transfer Certificate or defaulted on fee payments and wish to re-enroll, however, will be required to pay full fee as for a new student.

Do you provide
transportation or escorts for the non-resident and international students?
All students are generally expected to make their own travel arrangements to and from the school campus. To alleviate difficulties faced by parents who send their children over long distances, Samaritans provide adult escorts for students when special requests are made for them. The parents/guardians are required to pay all travel and incidental expenses for the student(s) and the escort(s) provided by the school.

What about entertainment and games?
Physical health and exercise is an integral part of life in Samaritans. Every morning, students jog for 20 minutes and in the evening, play games for an hour. Outdoor games include Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Shuttle Badminton, Tennis, Cricket and some indoor games are Carom, Table Tennis
and Chess. Weight lifting and other fitness programmes are also encouraged for students to be healthy and fit.
To help students relax from the hard work of studying, the students participate in cultural programmes such as talent nights and campfires. For other entertainment, there is an audio visual centre – a mini-Theatre where movies and educational programmes are shown. Students are also encouraged to play musical instruments and perform in skits and dramas. Students also listen to music everyday which is played on a central
public address system.

Where are the Alumni of the school?
Samaritan Alumni are now found all over the world, including USA and Australia, pursuing education and careers in Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Studies including Management and Administration and Fashion Technology, besides others.
