Senior UK Educationists Write For The "Pupil" August 26, 2006 Saturday.
Two senior educationists Ms. Jean Miller and Ms. Christine Scarles from SVN(Senior Volunteer Network) UK are with us for the last two weeks (1st August to 11th August, 2006), to help the teaching staff in enhancing the teaching methodology. Seminars on Class Management, Handling students with learning disabilities and using of teaching aids and teaching English are conducted for the teachers. Students were very happy to interact with them both and enjoyed their teaching. They went along with Primary students for Eco walk and also taught senior girls Scottish Dance.
Their write up for the Primary News Letter “Pupil” is as follows-:
“When we arrived on Monday 1st August, we were not sure what to expect. We found ourselves in a beautiful place surrounded by hills. In this hollow, lay the Samaritan School. It was a delight to find the campus divided into so many different areas all for the benefit of the children. The games and sporting areas are enjoyed at games times and we have seen badminton being played, not just by children but by the staff also. As sports day was coming at the end of the week it was interesting to watch the small children practice their races and then the older children fly over the hurdles. This seems a school area, which is much enjoyed. The school buildings are colorful and decorated with informative panels- birds and animals, maps of the area and also the country- that help the children to find their place in the bigger picture.
We found a school where the children are a delight! From kindergarten children who enthusiastically joined in songs and games, to year twelve students, without exception they are polite, friendly and welcoming- always pleased to have us in their classroom and eager to tale part in our lesson or activity. The staff echoed this- we have found friendliness, helpfulness and suggestions we could offer on teaching styles and planning of lessons.
The farm animals and the beautiful plants and trees provide the campus with an excellent teaching aid, allowing the children and young people an opportunity to study science and nature at first hand.
We will go home from here with positive view of the Samaritan school- a place where the Christian message is preached and put into practice, notably in the way that the local community is included, jobs provided in the garden and farm, and their welfare taken care of. We have enjoyed our stay in the Samaritan school and wish everyone every success”.
